Cool Kids Land #1
Chicago hip hop duo the Cool Kids have reason to celebrate. The Kids’ debut album When Fish Ride Bicycles landed at the #1 spot on iTunes Hip Hop album charts. Their debut album was delayed for years, but was released to an enthusiastic fan reaction.
The album was released independently on Mountain Dew’s Green Label Sound and was only released digitally.
Green Label Sound waived all of the label costs, and gave group members Chuck Inglish and Mickey Rocks complete creative control over the album.
“We’re thrilled with the success of When Fish Ride Bicycles. We’ve always been fans of The Cool Kids, so it was an honor for us to be able to use our resources at Green Label Sound to help them to finally release their long-awaited album,” said Brett O’Brien, vice president marketing, Mountain Dew in a statement. “The Cool Kids have two very important things in common with Mountain Dew: They do things their own way and they truly care about their fans. They are a great example of what being a Green Label Sound artist is all about.”
