Jay Z is Hip-Hop’s Top Earner


Forbes has announced its annual Hip Hop Cash Kings list for 2011 and Jay-Z sits at number one.

Eminem, Diddy, Dr. Dre, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West and others are also among this year’s top earners in hip hop music. Jay-Z earned the top spot by earning $37 million, reportedly due to “the benefits of a 10-year $150 million Live Nation deal, as well as stakes in the New Jersey Nets, the 40/40 Club” and other business ventures.

Diddy earned $35 million–most of which came from investments. Kanye West netted $16 million.

Lil Wayne is tied with Birdman for No. 4 ($15 million) in a tie with Birdman, Eminem sits at No. 6 ($14 million) in a tie with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, Ludacris at No. 10 ($12 million), Wiz Khalifa at No. 11 ($11 million) in a tie with Drake, and Nicki Minaj is at No. 15 ($6.5 million) in a tie with Swizz Beatz.
