Lil’ B Changes Album Title

Rapper Lil B made headlines earlier this year when he announced that his upcoming album would be called I’m Gay. B has finally revealed the cover art for project, and the name of the album has been modified. Now, the title of album is I’m Gay (I’m Happy).

The cover image is based on the iconic “Sugar Shack” painting by Ernie Barnes, but this version depicts slavery and freedom. There are shackled slaves partying in a basement and the other half of the image is a raucous block party.

Adding the phrase “I’m Happy” after the controversial original name seems to be a concession to the album’s critics. B said that he received death threats after announcing the title, and the controversy sparked a lengthy national debate about homophobia in hip hop.
