Mary J. Blige to be Honored
“Queen of Hip Hop-Soul” Mary J. Blige will be honored at this year’s 365Black Awards, during the start of Essence Music Festival Weekend in New Orleans. Blige will be honored alongside legendary actress Ruby Dee, Radio One founder Cathy Hughes, NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous and Civil Rights activist/McDonald’s owner/operator Henry “Hank” Thomas during the ceremony.
Mary J. Blige is being honored for her organization, the Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN), which was founded with music exec Steve Stoute, to help at-risk women.
“Through her organization FFAWN, the Foundation for Advancement of Women Now, Mary J. Blige continues to invest in the future of young women and gives them the confidence they need to succeed,” said Neil Golden, Chief Marketing Officer, McDonald’s USA.
The show will be hosted by actress Angela Bassett and radio personality Tom Joyner.
