Too Short Benefit Concert Halted
Too $hort and several other rappers were scheduled to take part in a benefit tonight (September 2) at a San Francisco club called Space 550 to benefit Juliana Pena, a 2 year-old girl diagnosed with advanced neuroblastoma.
But a contract dispute has put the benefit in jeopardy and the club closed unexpectedly for renovations. Reps for the club say that the show was booked without the owners’ consent or approval.
The concert’s organizer, Cochise Thomas, is reportedly planning to sue over the mishap. Meanwhile, the benefit was to help Pena raise money to undergo a stem cell transplant and receive intense chemotherapy.
“When [Thomas'] back is against the wall, he is still trying to do everything he can to make this happen,” her father, Jesus Peña said. “He’s just trying to give more awareness. He wants to still do this to let people know what we’re going through.”
