YoYo’s School of Hip Hip
West Coast rapper YoYo will be graduating over 80 students from her “YoYo’s School of Hip Hop” summer program.
The veteran rapper/actress has been mentoring kids from South Central L.A. over the last seven weeks in the program, which teaches students between the ages of 8 and 17 to use hip hop to achieve their goals and instill confidence.
At graduation, students will perform original songs and dances for family friends and celebrity guests.
“To have 80 kids tugging on me, putting in my hands things that they’ve written is just a wonderful experience,” YoYo told AllHipHop. “Ms. YoYo taught us how to explore our normal selves and how we can be like Chris Brown, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and all the other entertainers,” said student Roman “Wild Cat” Thomas, a 12-year-old who wrote the “School of Hip Hop” chorus.
